ShochuTasting?
Sarah  [03/19/10:38]
Hey I recently discovered sochu and love it. I heard that it's low in calories and have some health benefit as well. How exciting! I frequent Japanese restaurants but non seems to have samplers like for sake and many shochu are offered only by the bottle.
How do I get myself more acquainted with shochu without breaking the bank?

You might want to try Uminoie at 86 E. 3rd st(bet 1st & 2nd)they have so many kinds of Shochu and let you taste before you order and they might have a shochu flight to taste. They also have $40/bottle during their happy hour.
