“Itae” (painting on piece of wood), a very unique technique of Hisaki Hiramatsu who has so far challenged several methods of artistic expression. From foods like vegetables, fruit or bread to working tools like a scoop, bolt, hammer and gloves, all are the objects we live with. Through the exhibition “IROHA KARTA in NEW YORK” the artist sends several messages : How many articles and goods do we need to live life in a comfortable way? The artist’s affection for these articles, eyes with humanity for these things, and silent warning to modern life, shown in 48 IROHA KARTAs.

Iroha... I've heard of this before. Isn't it a poem, or some kind of ancient way to pronounce spoken Japanese? I don't know, maybe I'm way out of my league here.
