New Matsue Wagashi fair
Wagashi fair [11/06/18:37]
New products of "New Matsue Wagashi" will be introduced at Katagiri from 11/13 to 11/16.

"New Matsue Wagashi" is a project with the aim of broadening wagashi's appeal abroad. Wagashi is a traditional Japanese confectionery which is often served with tea, especially the types made of mochi, azuki bean paste, and fruits. Makers from Matsue-city, the one of the country's leading consumers of tea and the traditional fine confections (wagashi), are proud to introduce their new sweets, that will also go well with coffee and teas for New Yorkers. There will be sweets in shapes of holiday symbols like Christmas trees and Santa Claus among other exciting new products.

The fair start at 11am until 5pm from 11/13 through 11/16.

Location: Katagiri Delicatessen & Gift Shop
224 East 59th Street (bet. 2nd & 3rd ave)
212-755-3566

Did you know that Wagashi is low in calorie and contains lots of fibers from the azuki bean paste and agar. I like them because they are colorful and perfect for gift givings. I am gonna
check it out!

I went to the fair on Friday. They had really cute wagashi shaped in Xmas tree and Santa Claus! It costs around $3. But you can see the craftsmanship. Wagashi is really sweet, and I like to have a small bite while having a good rich green tea.
